From last weeks blog, I had a lot of requests for a camping checklist. Over the last twenty years, my wife and I have created a checklist which we use every time we go on a camping trip. Please copy the list and add or delete items to suit your family and use it when you pack for your trip. A camping shecklist saves money and time.

Camping:What You Really Need to pack

In my many years of camping two questions always come up. What should I pack ? and Do I need a list? Below is a list of items that are a must for camping,, I suggest putting them into a spreadsheet and checking them off when packing for your camping trip.

-Tent- this may seem obvious but I can’t tell you how many tents are sold at a huge markup at the campsite.

-Sleeping bag or Blankets for each person- Also any pad or air mattress that would make your sleeping on the ground more comfortable.

-Tarps and bungee- I always put a tarp under the tent and above the tent. It saves the tent floor and keep you dry.

-Camp Stove or Grill- Some people like to cook over the fire so you can bring a grill that sits over the fire but I prefer a Propane or Butane grill.

-A set of dishes and silverware- You also need a wash bin with bio degradeable dish soap and brushes.

-Pot,pans,coffee pot- anything that you need to cook

-Table cloth, food saver containers and condiments-Don’ t forget the spices

-Camping chairs or stools- anything you need to sit on.

-Food and snack- Plan out your meals by day(Buy all your produce locally-it’s good for the planet and it just tastes better, Don’t forget the ingredients for the Smores

-Board games, Videos, Chess, checkers, Sports balls,- Anything for indoor and outdoor entertainment

- Bug Spray and Suntan Lotion- Nothing worst than sunburn or bug bites while on vacation.

If you pack all of this, you will have everything needed to have a great camping trip. There are camp stores for anything you may forget. So make a list using this guide and check it off as you pack.

Camping Green

Below are some tips to help the planet stay clean and green on your next camping trip.

-Always use organic bug repellent like Avon’s Skin So Soft

-Use biodegradable soap products for cleaning dishes and yourself

-Use canvas or paper bags to pack your stuff for the trip

-Do not use disposable plates and silverware

-Buy your food locally when you get to your campsite- roadside produce is just better anyway

-Clean up any liquid spills coming from your vehicle and dispose of properly

-Use electric motors or people powered vehicles to make short runs to the camp store

-Do not go off the pathways and designated areas

-Food is garbage do not let it for the wildlife- it is not good for their diets and it throws off the natural balance

-Do not damge trees or scrubs by driving nails or spikes into them

- When you leave your site leave it spotless-Pick up all your trash
